What to Expect

Happy New Year! It's 2014 which means the movies that were released in 2013 were so last year. Today is my November 1st (see previous post) and I've decided to list the best movies of the year because blogs do that sort of thing at the end of the year. But instead of the year 2013, I'm doing the year 2014 because the movies released in 2013 were so last year. Wait, I already did that joke. Am I caught in a time loop? Only way to know is to move forward so let's start with number...

10. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes- I love me some blown up Statue of Liberty and the recent prequel of Rise of the Planet of the Apes was an unexpected hit that of course 20th Century Fox had to make a sequel. While the trailer looks promising, it's a teaser which puts it on my radar.

9.Transcendence- Johnny Depp takes on sic if as he merges to become a super computer of artificial intelligence. I hope this brings in a new age of super intelligence antagonist in the movies or at least provides audiences with more A.I. Sci fi movies.

8. Trans4mers: Age of Extinction- Say what you will about Michael Bay and the Transformers movies, but they are still good popcorn summer movies and the latest installment is to have Dinobots. Yeah, I'm talking about Optimus Prime riding a huge ass dinosaur robot. Stay tuned for the Super Bowl trailer if you don't believe me.

7. Hunger Games: Mocking Jay: Pt. 1- I'm not really big on the book series, but this last installment was a vast improvement on the first one that it gained my attention. Now, I already know (from a source) that these next movies don't actually contain any Hunger Games in them, so I'm curiously optimistic to see if audience will respond to it.

6. Amazing Spider-Man 2: The first installment by Director Mark Webb (Webb Head) didn't catch my attention as the origin story got in the way, but this movie looks to tackle what Spider-Man 3 failed to accomplish: successful 3 villain story. Green Goblin, Rhino, and Electro all make an appearance to take down the web slinger. This of course will lead directly into the Sinister 6 story line.

5. Xmen: Days of Future Past- Director Brian Singer is back at the helm of this sequel to the reboot of his original Xmen film. If that's confusing then this movie will be even more as it involved time travel and alternate universes and Sentinals. It's going to be one huge movie.

4. Lego: The movie- Now why would this movie be up so high? Because it is written and directed by the guys who did 21 Jump Street. Go watch it and tell me it isn't funny. Comedy with Legos and Chris Pratt in the lead, this movie is going to be amazing. Everything is turned into Legos from Explosions to how the characters move and interact. No detail is too small for this movie to be overlooked.

3. 22 Jump Street- Moving across the street has never been more fun as Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum team up again in this sequel to the hilarious 21 Jump Street. Seriously, if you haven't seen it go watch it. It's the funniest movie of 2012 and deserves this sequel.

2. The Hobbit: There and Back Again- The epic comes to a close as Peter Jackson and company say goodbye from Middle Earth where they defeat a dragon, save a kingdom, and engage in an epic battle of seven armies to defeat the Necromancer. Be sure to see this on IMAX 3D HFR.

1. Interstellar- Christopher Nolan's latest movie which was written by his brother Jonathan Nolan and originally to be directed by Steven Spielberg. I've already read the script for this movie and it is by far the most amazing thing I've come across. This movie will be amazing.

There's my list for the upcoming year. For more movies, be sure to check out the link below.
