Christian Bale in Justice League

Christian Bale may dawn the cowl one more time as the pending Justice League movie starts gearing up for its feature. But wait, didn't Bale give up being the caped crusader in the final movie? Yes he did, but that doesn't mean he can't be batman. But he died at the end, right? As batman and as Bruce Wayne, yes but the Batman is a symbol that cannot be killed. Then how does he fit into being Batman for the Justice League? Will you stop asking questions and let me explain.

Ok, in order for Christian Bale to return as Batman, we must time travel backwards. In the end of The Dark Knight, we see Batman ride off on the batpod as he is being chased by guards and Commissioner Gordon gives his iconic speech. From that period to the point where we meet up with him in the beginning of The Dark Knight Rises, eight years have passed. In that time, the body of Batman has been withered away into the crippled bearded Bruce Wayne we see in the opening sequence of the final movie. In eight years, the Batman has not been seen in Gotham until his resurgence on the streets chasing Bane.

These eight years could be served with the Justice League. This could also be why the funds from Wayne Enterprise have shriveled up leaving the orphanage with little money. As Bruce Wayne, Batman can continue to be excellent in hand-to-hand combat, retain the detective skills necessary to be batman, and provide the funding for any futuristic technology that may be used in Justice League including all space travel related vehicles. By remaining Bruce Wayne, Batman is given the iconic appeal we are all used to seeing. That eight year gap between movies provides the perfect time frame to set Justice League while keeping Christian Bale as the Dark Knight.
