New Series: The Code of a Filmmaker as described by The Basic Filmmaker. I will break down what each bullet means and how it should be applied. This series will go in increasing order from #12 - #1.
12. I promise to recognize and support Filmmakers, knowing their true intentions are to have their ideas brought into being, shared and enjoyed by all.
This boils down to criticism that you give to other filmmakers out there. Don't be cruel and start bashing the cinematography or the acting or the script. They have taken the time to create a film using what they have available. Instead, leave comments that support or suggest things that they have over looked. The point is that they were able to create a film and they should be recognized for putting together something even if you yourself have yet to make something substancial for others to view.
The second part means to look past what you think they are saying and look into the ideas and themes they wanted to convey. Everybody makes a film to express a message and once you find that message, share it with other people so they also know what the intentions of the film are. The filmmaker has brought their idea to life and should be critiqued on what they should do better next time and not on what failed during their film.
